Baladeva Vidyabhusan Prabhu arguments in Galta-Gadi

Baladeva Vidyabhusan Prabhu as Gaudiya-Vedanta Bhaskaracharya

Sripad BV Madhava Maharaj: The place we visited is called Galta-gadi, or Galtaji, where there lived a sadhu named Galta.

Vyasadeva said in Dvapara Yuga that there will be four distinguished sampradayas in the world : Sri, Brahma, Rudra and Sanaka.

The Sri Sampradaya originates from Lakshmi. And its main acharya is Ramanujacharya. The Sri Sampradaya has two branches. For some, the worshiped deity is Lakshmi-Narayana, and for others, Sita-Rama.

The next sampradaya is the Brahma sampradaya. Brahma is the one who creates the world. And it also has two branches: Gaudiya and Tattva-vadi. Tattva-vadi means those who follow Madhavacharya. They worship Gopalaji who is holding a yogurt whisk. And in the Gaudiya Sampradaya, Radha and Krishna are worshiped.

The Rudra Sampradaya also has two branches: Pushti Marga and Maryada Marga. Maryada marga is vaidi bhakti and Pushti marga is raganuga bhakti . In Pushti Marga Bala Gopal is worshiped and in Maryada Marga Nrsimhadeva is worshiped.

And in the Sanaka Sampradaya, Gopal is worshiped. It is named after Brahmaji’s first son who came out of his mind, Sanak, one of the four Kumaras. Sanaka, Sanatana, Sanandana and Sanat Kumar are the four sons of Brahma. And the outstanding acharya of this sampradaya is Sri Nimbaditya.

Param-gurudev did not agree with the name Nimbark and he established the name Nimbaditya because Vyasadev wrote it. And therefore in their sampradaya is Nimbaditya Acharya, and they worship Rukmini-Dvarakadhish.

Let’s move on to the Brahma-Madhava-Gaudiya sampradaya. When the Muslims were persecuting the righteous, at that time King Jayasindhu decided to take all the vigrahas and bring them to Jaipur. On the way, he stopped at Kamyavan, and at night Vrinda-devi came to him in a dream and said: “I don’t want to leave Vraja, let me stay.” And so Vrinda remained in Kamyavan. There are 3 places in Vraja where Vrinda-devi is located – these are Rupa Sanatana Gaudiya Math, Kamyavan and Gokul-Vrindavan.

So King Jayasindhu took all the Deities to Jaipur. And there he kept Govindadev, who was the main Deity. The deities were always near his palace, so he could see them every day. And every day there was a beautiful seva for the Deities.

But one day the followers of the Ramanuja Sampradaya asked him: “Why do you worship Radha-Krishna? Who is Radharani? She cannot be near Krishna. A girl cannot be with a boy unless they are married. And also, according to the sequence, Treta Yuga comes before Dvapara Yuga, which means that food must first be offered to Sita and Rama, and then to Govindadev. Which sampradaya are you from ? “We are from the Gaudiya Sampradaya,” replied the king. “Where is your Vedanta-bhasya , commentary on the Vedanta-sutra?” – they asked.

Unless a sampradaya has a commentary on the Vedanta-sutra, it cannot be considered a sampradaya .

And the devotees from the Ramanuja Sampradaya said, “Bring your best scientist so that he can answer these questions for us. Otherwise, separate Radha from Krishna and offer it first to Rama and Sita.”

The king became very upset and began to think about how to find a great sadhu in Vrindavan. The oldest devotee at that time was Srila Visvanatha Chakravarti Thakur. And he said, “I can’t go anywhere, I’m very old. And I took ksetra-sannyasa .” Ksetra-sannyasa in three of the dhams – Vrindavan, Navadvipa or Puri – means that the devotee does not leave this place. He cannot spend the night anywhere except in this place.

He was offered very fast horses to take him there and then back again by nightfall, but he refused and sent Baladeva Vidyabhusana Prabhu from himself. Seeing him, the king thought: “Oh, how thin! It’s not like he can win.” And yet they took him to this meeting for philosophical discussions.

In this place, Galta-gadi, where this dispute took place, there is one Gomukha kunda , where water always flows. This kunda is always full and never dry.

So, when everyone had gathered and the discussion began, Baladeva Vidyabhusana Prabhu was asked whether there was Vedanta-bhasya in their sampradaya , to which he replied with a sloka from the Srimad Bhagavatam, saying that the Srimad Bhagavatam is a natural commentary on the Vedanta-sutra ” The meaning of Vedanta Sutra is Srimad Bhagavatam. And the commentary on Gayatri is also Srimad Bhagavatam. Everything is perfectly explained in it. But the Ramananda Sampradaya did not accept these arguments. There were many of them, 20-30 people, and they were very large, and against them there was only one thin Baladeva Vidyabhushana prabhu.

They were followers of the Ramananda Sampradaya, which comes from the Ramanuja Sampradaya.

“Radha cannot be with Krishna because They are not married,” they continued. “And Lord Rama came to Treta Yuga, and therefore He should be offered food first.” And then Baladeva Vidyabhusana prabhu replied: “Brahmaji said in the Brahma-samhita: “ Govindam adi purusam .” Lord Rama and all other incarnations are part of the main Bhagavan. For the benefit of the universe and the whole world, Krishna manifests different incarnations, but Krishna is adi-purusha , He is the main God.” “But how can Radharani be with Him?” – continued the devotees from the Ramananda Sampradaya. And Baladeva Vidyabhusana prabhu answered this question with a story.

When Krishna was a small boy and had already learned to walk, one day Nanda Baba went to gra

ze the cows. And when children start walking, they always want to go somewhere with their father. Yasoda asked Nanda Maharaja not to take Krishna with him, but Krishna insistently asked to go with him. And so they went to graze the cows in Bhandiravan. But when they got there, suddenly the sky was covered with black clouds. “Oh, Yashoda told me not to take Krishna with me,” thought Nanda Baba. “He might get wet and get sick.” And then he suddenly saw Radharani and, calling Her, said: “Oh, Radhika, please take Krishna with You and take Him home.”

When Radha and Krishna had already moved some distance, 8 ashta-sakhis of Radharani appear

ed. And Radhika and Krishna manifested Their forms as boys and girls. Meanwhile, Brahma flew past on his way to Pushkara. Pushkara for Brahma is like a dacha, a country house. And seeing Krishna and Radha, he came down and decided to perform a wedding ceremony for them. Who can be a better Brahmin than Brahmaji? And so he married Them according to the Gandharva rites .

So Baladeva Vidyabhusana prabhu established that Krishna and Radharani were actually married, and no one could object to him.

So, there is only one question left – about the commentaries on the Vedanta Sutra. Madhavac

harya wrote 3 comments: “Anubhashya”, “Brihad-bhashya”, “Anuvakya”. But they were written by Madhavacharya, and where is the Gaudiya-bhasya , the commentaries of the Gaudis ? And then Baladeva Vidyabhusana pra

bhu asked them for 3 months to write them. But they thought, “Oh, he is quite learned and can write even in one month.” But in the end they gave him only 7 days.

And then Baladev Vidyabhusana prabhu came to Govindadev’s temple and said, “Oh Govindadev, what is Your desire? Do you want to be with Radharani or without Her? Do you want it to be offered to You or Lord Rama first? If Radha is Your beloved and You want to be with Her, then arrange everything so th

at I write this commentary.” And Govinda said to him: “Take a pen and write.” And so in one night a commentary was written down, which is called Govinda-bhasya, because Govinda Himself dictated it.

“What a great scientist he is – he wrote it in one night,” the devotees thought. And so Baladev Vidyabhusana prabhu won, and Radha remained with Govindadev, and the offering of food and arati was first performed for Govinda. Thus the Gaudiya Sampradaya was confirmed.

And also Baladev Vidyabhusana prabhu thought: “If there are any more problems to support Govinda-bhasha, I will write 2 more comments.” All this took place in Galta-gadi, the place where Rishi Galta resided.
