Sripad Madhav Maharaj :Mangla Charan For last two days we were discussing different vision and different angles of Advait acharya prabhu and today is dissapperance of Srila Madhavachrya.

First requesting maharaj to speak first then I will speak. Madhav maharaj continues today due to tithi of madhvacharya we will speak about madhvacharya…

I will speak one point on advait acharya and then come to Madhvacharya so Sriman Mahaprabhu wants Jagadanand pandit from Jagganth puri to Bangla now Navdweep Mayapur, and give swome prasad for different different devotees some for mother Sachi devi some for Advait acharya prabhu some for Srivasa pandit and other devotees. So first Jagadanand pandit came to Sachi maa gave prasad to others and then he came to Shantipur and gave prasad in Shantipur to Advait acharya prabhu and then Advait acharya prabhu wrote one “tarja “, tarja means externally you cannot understand but deep meaning is there he wrote on a paper and gave it to Jagadanand pandit to bring to Mahaprabhu , he wrote a song “baulake kahina loka ha ila baula baulake kahiha hate na vikaya caula baulake kahaiha kaye nahika aula baulake kahiha iha kahiyache baula” heard he started laughing baul baul baul what, baul vaishnav is not pure Vaishnav sampradyay. Why telling baul baul he laughed so much he couldn’t understand. now the question may arise Jagadanand pandit is eternal associate of shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu he doesn’t know why laughing, he is doing narvrat lila, when he came to Mahaprabhu , when Mahaprabhu heard this he become very grave Swaroop damodar asked prabhu whats the meaning of this “baul baul menas who is mad for Krishna prem Advait achrya is telling tell this baul baul means who is mad in Krishna prem Chaitainya mahaprabhu, baul loke kohiya hoile baul , ragmarg bhakti kare pracaharan to distribute krishna prem. All achieved krishna prem tell to that baul mad person that there is no place to preach krishna prem again telling tell that there is no place to spread Krishna prem every where Krishna prem has been distributed, tell that mad man no need to stay here anymore, tell that mad man that another mad man has told to tell you. Mahaprabhu became very grave Swaroop damodar prabhu asked prabhu what is the meaning, Mahaprabhu said i dont know Advait acaharya is great worshipper and worshipping according to smart then first you have to invite god demigod gemigodess , this is called avahan and then for how long the worshipping will be done it is called nirodhan and then after that asking god to go away , it is called visarjan so he did aradhan and now he wanted visarjan from that day Mahaprabhu was in great separation resting sometimes in Gambhira and come out blood is running from nose sometimes resting there jumped in ocean there are seven doors all are locked how how coming sometimes they found him in midst of cows , close to Jagganth puri. Well I want to come out I heard Krishnaa flute I could not get the exit then Swaroop damodar prabhu and Ramananda rai discuss then they keep Sankar , Sankar pandit one devotee of Mahaprabhu sleep with Mahaprabhu gambhira , Mahaprabhu will keep his feet on him Mahaprabhu became agree they call Mahaprabhu upadhan the pillow of Sriman Mahaprabhu to keep his feet how fortunate is he always mahaprabhu keep his feet ( taking to devotees – “govinda was sleeping outside ” , “yes outside door, very healthy then Mahaprabhu if he’ll go then he’ll understand” .So and sometime massaging feet and sleeping, by this way he spent his time there so from that day Mahaprabhu became more , more absorb in seperation

I’m coming in Madhvacharya so many thing to explain, Sriman Madhvacharya it is mentioned “ Hanumat Bhim vayu avatar “ he is combined incarnation of Hanuman and Bhim , Hanuman came in Tretayuga Bhim came in Dwaparyuga and and goddess of air , the presiding deity of air or wind is vayu combined , how powerful he will be Hanuman how is powerful? While Hanuman was as a Ram sevak so you know about Hanuman how marvellous , tremendous service done by Hanuman , anything Hanuman .

I’m telling something about Hanuman , Vibhishan told “prabhu no one can destroy lanka” , “why? ” , “so many things there” So Vibhishan has some spy everybody has some spy Vibhishan, Ravan, Kumbhakaran, Meghnath everyone. So lord Ram and Lakshman trying the level best to somehow or other break the door to enter , Lankapuri then outside there is a canal so much deep water and there are so many ferocious living animal like crocodile and others alligator, none can go so how to go there , they are fighting, fighting could not do . So Vibhishan send his spy what is going on , why ant weapon not working he went and when they come back they found , oh he’s the spy of vibhishan, they shoot , somehow or other with arrow he came and he died could not speak there was so much pain then what he told , none can say , someone tell when he was dying only saying this ( some action with hand ) nothing else , vibhishan told “OH, OH!” He stuck his brain “panchavatram , panchavatram”

Lord told ” what is panchavatram?”

Panchavatram means ,pancha means five , vatram means face like vatra means face “what is panchavatram?” Lord Ram does not know ? He is Bhagvan himself but due to human being pastimes Yogamaya cover everything the remote control of leela is yogmaya , just like when television come in this world then you have to operate manually, brightness, channel, change the channel or sound by keep up the finger but when remote control came, coming office, remote control come from Indian’s brain not from western brain . Remote control holder by Yogamaya devi , reach and every past time of Bhagvan remote control under the hand if Yogmaya devi bhagwan give this power to her .So what happened,” what panchavatram?” Then Vibhishan told, “oh there is one seal called panchavatram only myself and my elder Ravan knows , nobody knows” once Shukracharya came then Ravan pray to him that my Lanka must be protected none can , by missile not can destroy okay , then he installed panchavatram because sea has five that this is the jantra of Shiv ji and whole day long he’ll be charged none can destroy and at night will be charged again but when sun set little time like dusk time when Narishma dev killed Hiranyakashipu that time this once like one shift finish another shift coming then changing the stops came way panchavatram when sunset then he again rejuvenate his power in few minutes that time only someone can destroy that Vibhishan told everything how Hanuman powerful he took both Ram and Lakshman ( on his shoulder) fighting going on then Vibhishan told “prabhu this is the time now” done , panchavatram finished look so many times it happened when Meghnath fighting with Lakshman, why name Meghanath ? When he born roaring like cloud so much he gas benediction he can fight against anyone hiding behind the cloud when any fight flying he can see when go beyond the cloud you could not hear the sound you could not see same way Meghnath used to fight and Meghanath has chariot, Lakshman nothing and Lakshman alone he had there , hanuman said Lakshman ji you can sit in my shoulder , then hanuman ji taking and flying everywhere and shooting is so powerful you know how he burned up lanka so Hanuman so Madhvacharya inside him Hanuman is there then, Bhim . Bhim also not less powerful, Bhim is so powerful first the Kauravas wanted to kill Bhim when he’s young because out of fiva Pandavas Bhim is very tall very chubby and very powerful. Duryodhana and Dushashan they thought if we can kill Bhim then we can kill other very easily we can smash them and Bhim is fond of food always so what happened , they make some ladoo with very strong poison and they give little piece to dog immediately died okay , Duryodhana said “Bhim we made so much ladoo for you” , “really?” , “yes we have so much in house all for you” and Bhim eating the poisonous reaction start became unconscious then they bind him and throw in the river. River has current and he going to Naag lok and then serpent stared biting you know only poison can kill poison if someone got bitten by snake he needs antivenom injection , other things will not work. When snakes were biting all poison came out and Bhima started fighting with them, all were shocked oh what is this they took him to big snake , the king,” he said oh he is my grandson”. So grandson means king of snakes considered Kunti devi as his daughter he gave some drink to Bhima as much as you can drink and if you can digest , you will become powerfull and no one can defeat you . Bhima had drink and slept for few days , and there all were searching where is Bhima , then Yudishthira, Kunti all asking Duryodhana that everyday Bhima comes to play with you , he said, “yes he came and gone nobody knows”, and then Bhima came back he became so powerfull , oh my god that no can stand infront of him only Pandavas and Kunti knows they didn’t told anyone , Bhima was so powerfull that he even killed Hidimb while he was in exile , once Hanuman was lying down lamenting for lord Ram , Bhima passing , he said, “I have to go hey monkey take off your tail”. Hanuman said, “oh I am too old, you can jump on me” , Bhima said, “no this is against our religion”. Hanuman said , “ok then you can remove it”. Bhima tried with club could not, then tried with both hands could not, who is this? I couldn’t remove his tail, then Hanuman told I am your elder brother, Bhima exclaimed , “Brother!”Hanuman replied “I am Hanuman, you are son of Vayu and me too , I will help you in Mahabharat” . In this context one thing came to my mind that if they give poison to Bhima , I am a village boy so today we picked some potato leaves, have you eaten potato spinach , noo ? Balram prabhu was walking then he found ,they said ,”no it is deadly poison you will die” . I said “no problem let die I have to eat you not have too” .Then I told when you came last time I have cooked you all have not died, then today cooked potato spinach , they ate this deadly poison didn’t died. [Gurudev laughing], after my departure they will die then not my , don’t come to me. Being in ISKCON you have heard potato leaves are deadly poison , oh I am a farmers boy. So now then Vayu , Hanuman being Vayu avatar and Ganesh being presiding deity is also inside Bhima. Madhvacharya was born in Udupi in Bajukla kshetra one yuga before Vyasdev who is Shaktavesh avtar of bhagvan told in Padma puran. He told in Padma puran , what he told In the coming kaliyuga there will be four sampradays, Shri , Shri means goddess of fortune will start one sampraday that prominent archya Sri Ramanujacharya their philosophical opinion is Visistadvaitavad means (taking to devotees ) and their Worshipable deity is Lakshmi Narayan later on they became two section one called ‘Ramanandi’ and another ‘ramayet’ one serving Sitaram another serving Laksmi Narayan now madha means bhraman sampraday the creator of this universe.

Glories of Madhvacharya Now “Madhva” means Brahma sampradaya. The creator of this universe, four-headed Brahmaji, will create one sampradaya – his prominent acharya is Sri Madhvacharya. The philosophy term is dvaitadvaita dualis and their worship able deity is who? Devotee says, “Krsna” The one who is holding the churning stick of Mother Yasoda, Bal Gopal. In time, they separated into two sections. – one called Tattva-vadi sampradaya – they are wholly, solely, completely following Madhvacharya. Another is called Gaudiya sampradaya, branch of Madhva sampradaya. According to the advice of Mahaprabhu, they are serving the Divine Couple, leaning towards Radhika. Sri Brahma then Rudra. Rudra means devastation deity of what? The presiding deity of devastation, Rudra Shivji – He will start one sampradaya – His sampradaya is called Sri Vishnuswami sampradaya. Rudra sampradaya, the prominent acharya is Sri Vishnuswami. Their prominent acharya Sri Vishnuswami, the philosophy is called shuddha-advaita, purified monism. Their worshipable deity is Nrsimhadev. They are also divided into two – one is called madhyagamarga and the other is called Pushtimarga. Madhyagamarga means vaidhi bhakti and Pushtimarga means raganuga bhakti. They are serving Bal Gopal. Later on, in their parampara, Vallabacharya got initiation into Gopal mantra from Gadadhara pandit. From that, Pushtimarga and Madhyagamarga.

Sri Brahma, Rudra then Sanak. Sanak means first son of Brahmaji came from mind. It is called Sanak sampradaya or catursan sampradaya. The eldest son is called Sanak sampradaya. The sons Sanak, Sanandan, Sanatana and Sanatkumara – 4 of them combined became one unit. It is called Sanak sampradaya or Catursan sampradaya. Their prominent acharya is Nabaditya. So many people call him Nimbarka – no, he is Nabaditya. Vyasadev told, “nimbaditya catursanam”. So although Nimbaditya means…same meaning Nimbarka. “Arka” means son, “aditya” means son. He saw his mother or father’s sun on top of the neem tree. There is some long story, I am not going there. But what Vyasadev told, Nimbaditya have to follow. Vyasadev in the sloka “nimbaditya catursanam” and their worshipable deity is Rukmini Dwarkadish, in svakiya mood. And their philosophy is called dvaitadvaita – dualism and monism. Although it is a little tough subject, but we have to know.

siddhānta baliyā citte nā kara alasa

ihā ha-ite kṛṣṇe lāge sudṛḍha mānasa

“Oh this deep siddhanta, I don’t want to know.” No, you have to know. Otherwise you cannot enter into the philosophy and you cannot get Krsna prema.

So Madhvacarya, how did he get that deity? Madhvacarya was very powerful. Once, Madhvacarya was going for preaching. There was king who wanted to dig a pond, a big sarovara but he did not want to pay anyone. He arranged for everybody who passed through the main area, everybody had to dig the soil, carry it and throw, at least one basket. So this was free of cost way of doing. Madhvacarya came with his hundreds of disciples going through. Then the king passing his officer, “What to do?” “I don’t know, call the king, king has come.” “My dear king, I never know how to do that. You can show how to do that?” Ok, so the king and his officer were doing and showing. Then how Madhvacarya spread his maya, his power. The king and his officer were doing, they gone off, all day long doing. [all laughing] Like Lord Ram, Srila Gurudev (Srila Narayana Maharaj) used to tell. When Lord Ram killed Taraka rakshasi, I forgot the name. So Lord Ram used such kind of weapon that everyone thought he is Ram – they are seeing each other, he is Ram, he is Ram. They were fighting each other. Lord Ram used Mohini van, and killed everyone. In the same way, Madhvacarya used some power, the king and his officers were digging, carrying and throwing soil all day long and they gone. Once, one boat came to Dwaraka. After making business, to keep the balance equal, they took so much Gopi Chandan, clay. And they got stuck. What to do? They were searching for men who could help. They came to Madhvacharya. Then Madhvacharya said, “Ok jau, the boat will go now.” They asked him, “What shall we reward you?” “You have so much Gopi Chandan, give one piece to me.” They gave one big piece to him. When he was bringing, the motion caused it to be broken. And he found a very beautiful Gopal deity holding the churning stick of Mother Yasoda. On the way, he made dvadasha stotram – 12 prayers of Krsna. And the Gopal deity is still being worshiped in Udipi.

Now the question may arise, Sriman Mahaprabhu, being Swayam Bhagavan, why did He accept Madhva sampradaya? Why not other sampradaya? Can you tell? [asking a devotee] Devotee says, “Erm…” Patanihi, you know what patanihi means? Damodara prabhu, can you speak? Madhu prabhu? Tamal Krsna? [devotees laughing] So then Gurudev (Srila Narayana Maharaj) told one story. Like the British ruled New Zealand, the British ruled India also. First they came to Calcutta, then they made the capital city there. In 1931, the British changed the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. Now Delhi is still the capital city. So time to time, so many tourists come to India. One day, one tourist came and took a tour. “Who made this?” And what he did not know, “patanihi”. Who did this? Patanihi. Who did that? Patanihi. He told everything then he went back to his country England and said, “Oh my goodness, you will not believe one person in India, he was over 2,000 years alive in this world.” “Really?” “Yes, he made this and that, so many things.” Some had doubts, “How is it possible? A human being living over 2,000 years?” Another came. Then he also take died. Who did this? Malumnihi. Who did that? Malumnihi. Then he told, “Yes, it is true. I went also to India, one person over 2,000 years.” “What is his name?” “Malumnihi.” One is Patanihi and another is Malumnihi. [devotees laughing] So this is going on. “How it is possible?” “First, I had to learn their language.” Then in a few months, he learned a little by little, being Indian, he did not know English. After that, “What is Patanihi?” “I don’t know.” “What is Malumnihi” “I don’t know.” [Madhava Maharaj and devotees laughing] When he went back, neither Malumnihi nor Patanihi survived more than 2,000 years. So “Malumnihi” means “I don’t know” and “Patanihi” means “I don’t know”. So he did not know, so he said “Patanihi” and “Malumnihi”. He told, “I asked you, you can tell Patanihi or Malumnihi.”

 Our Srila Trivikrama Maharaj used to tell one story. In the beginning, when you go 400-500 years back, everywhere in the world, there were small, small kings everywhere. One day, one king, through others he did murder to another person. Somehow or other, they understood this person was behind this. So if you murder or attempt to murder or inspire others to murder, you will be jailed, no bail. So court case was going on. Then he would be sentenced to death. One of his friends told, “Listen, very close by there is a small town. There is a lawyer, very clever, not so popular but very clever. Why not try him?” He said, Ok.” He went and took his file. “My dear sir, if you can make me free, then I will give 50% of my moveable and immoveable properties.” Moveable means like horse, elephant, chariot and cow. Immovable like land and gold, all these. “Ok.” The lawyer said, “Your point is very very weak. None can save you.” He said, “Yes, I am going to these lawyers, all of them are very prominent, very famous.” “What did they tell?” “They told none can save me. But if you can save me, I will give you 50% of my properties.” The lawyer told, “I can do something.” “What?” “No need to die, you can be in jail for the rest of your life.” “Then what shall I gain? If they kill me, if they hang me, then I will die immediately. And being here, I always remember my wife, my children, then every day I am dying. I don’t like this. I prefer to die in a day. If you somehow can save me, I will give you 50% of my moveable and immovable properties.” The lawyer told, “Listen, then you have to make some drama.” “What drama?” “When you go to the courtroom, according to international law, when you are inside the court room, when the judge comes, you have to stand up to greet him.” Here also, everywhere in the world. “You should not stand up. And wherever you go, say ‘Ha ha ha ha ha! Poo poo poo poo poo! Ha ha hoo hoo!’ Laugh like a mad man when someone asks you anything. And say ‘poo poo poo poo poo’ at the top of his face.” Before your last hearing, 3 days later you can make a rehearsal with your family.” He said, “Ok.” So now 3 days later, so many had come, the final judgement came for the king. His lawyer also came, this lawyer also came. He had so many lawyers, all came. And the judge would always sit a little higher. So being in the court room, he ran here and there, “Ha ha ha! Hoo hoo hoo!” And when someone asked him anything, he would say, “Poo poo poo poo poo!” at the top of his face. When the judge came, he did not stand up but said, “ Ha ha ha! Hoo hoo hoo!” The judge noticed and thought, “Who is this?” Then calling came, this and that. His opponent lawyer asked, “Sir, when the murder took place, were you next to him or where were you?” He said, “Ha ha ha! poo poo poo poo poo!” Then the other lawyer asked him and he did the same thing. Then the judge asked him. He said, “Ha ha ha! Poo poo poo poo poo!” The judge thought he was a mental case, “He is pagol. Kick him out!” When they wanted to kick him, he said, “Poo poo poo poo poo!” They came into the court room and also doing and running. They took him out and going onto the road he was also doing there. [devotees laughing] Case dismissed, means he was not sentenced to death. He was free. One day, two, three, four, five, six seven days had passed. That king did not come to pay anything to the lawyer. Seven days later, the lawyer came to the king’s palace, “Hey gentleman, you told me if I saved you…” The man said, “Ha ha ha! Hoo hoo hoo!” The lawyer said, “Hey! Stop! You told me you would give me….” The man said, “Poo poo poo poo!” The lawyer tried for half an hour. Who teach you and cheat you, the same person. But he, “Ha ha! Hoo hoo! Poo poo!” And came out. In the same way, I am asking a question, you can reply and tell, “Ha ha ha! Poo poo poo!” [Madhava Maharaj clapped his hand and laughing] This story was told by Trivikrama Goswami Maharaj. Now coming Madhvacharya , Krishna has 2 prominent disciple , direct disciples , who are they? (Talking to devotees) Bramha and Shiva thakur , I’ll give example that Shiva is telling himself so Bramha also started a sampraday and Shiva also started one sampraday then why Mahaprabhu choose going to Bramha? It is very deep philosophy , first Bramha ji got initiation Gopal mantra , Krishna mantra , then by flute he got kaamgayatri but for Shivji, direct not by flute Krishna gave initiation. It is mentioned in a scripture. Shiva is telling to Narada that mantra explanation- telling Narada ,“oh Narada, now you have so many questions”, then Shivji told him that “Krishna became so pleased by me , he gave me very top mantra , what is that Yugal mantra, two mantras are – 1) Krishna mantra and 2) Kaamgayatri mantra and Krishna observing ujalla, gave these two mantras” now Krishna telling to Shivji, “listen , what I’m telling about my own ras, listen very carefully , it is very hard to know about Bramha, then he told so many things to Shivji, Shivji telling the same to Narada, and he is telling that Krishna has 8 bahiranga shakti and antaranga shakti. Who are bahiranga shakti? Shri, Bhu, Leela, Yogmaya, Chinta , Achinta, Mahini and Kausalya”. What is antaranga? Then Shivji telling to Narada, ” Leela , Prem , Awarupa , Aakarshan , Sthapan, Samjogini, Agni “. We are getting all these things from Shivji told to Narad that ,there are three prakaash manifesting , that are Samyogini, Viyogini and Vishwayogini or Kamavamavishwonandini. Shiva told this to Narada from that we know . Now there are two disciple of Krishna , and Narada has 5 prominent disciples and out if them two of them became king , they are Dhruva maharaj and Prahlad maharaj. Two are elderly person , Valmiki and Ved Vyas, one composed Ramayana and another composed Bhagvattam. One was lady disciple prominent , who was Yogmaya devi . Yogmaya devi is disciple of Narada rishi and Narad rishi ordered to Yogmaya devi that go to Braj so Yogmaya devi giving her half son Sandeepuni and taking Madhumangal and Nandimukhi son and daughter of Sandipani. Sandipani came to Vraj before Krishna took birth. Narada ordered, so “Gurur adesh jhavicharaniya” which means order of Guru should be done without any consideration. Yogamaya came without any other choice. Now question may arise that when Krishna give guru dakshina then he brought back the Guruputras from Yamalaya who was that!? He was brother of Madhumangal. Madhumangal was the eldest son, and Nandimukhi was the only daughter and there was another son who was devoured / eaten by Sankhasur and it was in Yampuri Krishna brought them. So now coming to the context that why he accepted Brahma Sampradaye. It is because of 2 cause one is Mahaprabhus own (cause) one is tattva gata vichar and another one is rasa gata vichar. According to tattva one is purified oneism , specialified oneism, dualified oneism but Madhamacharya was always dualified monism, as because if there are no 2 people prem will not be there, as for prem we need potent and potency. Only potent is there and no potency then there is no prem and it will be Nirakar Nirvishesh Brahma so Madhavacharya told that no dualism is there. So according to this Siddhanta mahaprabhu accepted this. According to rasa, Mahaprabhu came for what purpose? To prem “Raag marge bhakti loke korite pracharan” mahaprabhu came to give vraj bhakti only Lakshmi ji, Brahma ji, shiv ji, Nimbaditya ji, Chatusant. All have Vrajendranandan Krishna however Nimbaditya has dwarkadhish Krishna. There is no Vraj mood. Mahaprabhu came and brought here Vraj mood for this 2 reason Sriman Mahaprabhu accepted this Madhva sampradaye.
